Season 1:

Everything has to begin somewhere......and SnowTrails TV starts right here! Mount up and hang onto your helmets as Video Mike guides us through the very first season of SnowTrails TV. We start out in Rainbow Country, Ontario for a five-day saddlebag tour through the lakes, valleys, frozen waterfalls and wilderness mountain scenery of Manitoulin Island, Killarney and Georgian Bay in and around Espanola, Ontario. We'll be joining up with the Midland Empire Snowgoers of Billings, Montana for some high altitude riding and breathtaking scenery from the summit of Two Top Mountain outside of West Yellowstone, Montana during the 2002 Expo. Next up, we join the Wayland Snowmobile Club for a seven-day, 1,100 mile, saddlebag tour leaving Wawa, riding up the Magpie River, through Dubreauville, White River and ending at Dunc Lake in Ontario. We'll spend four days touring Elliot Lake, Ontario in Algoma Country riding to Spanish Break, Waterfall Lodge and Laurentian Lodge while enjoying excellent snow and trails around Iron Bridge and Blind River. Finally, we'll visit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for a spring ride from Newberry, through Pind Stump and Grand Marais into Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We'll even get to visit the Antique Snowmobile show in Naubinway. There's something for everyone, so grab your gear and your friends and join us for the first season of SnowTrails TV!

Season 2:

We're back for Season 2 of SnowTrails TV with Video Mike. This season we'll catch the Agawa Canyon Snow Train to the Moose Capitol, Hearst, Ontario starting a four-day saddleback tour on the Superior snow challenge loop back to Sault Ste. Marie. Join us as we load our sleds on the train and head for the snow. We'll also visit Deadwood, South Dakota for a two-day tour of the Black Hills with Polaris Adventure Tours. For the guys, a one-time chance to join the "For Women Only Ride" to benefit Easter Seals in Grayling, Michigan with guest host, Lissa Toncray. From there, we head to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to explore Lake Gogebic, the Porcupine Mountains lookout and enjoy some spectacular trail riding. Up next, we visit the Togwotee Mountain Lodge in Wyoming for the ultimate mountain riding experience: high altitude, off-trail boondocking along the Continental Divide at over 10,00 feet above sea level! Finally, we return to Ontario for the five-day West Superior Snow Challenge where we tour the northern Lake Superior coastline ending in Marathon, Ontario. We wrap up the season with some fun, social snowmobiling on the "Clubhouse Tour" of the Bruce/Grey area of Ontario. Gear up! Grab your friends and join us for Season 2 of Video Mike and SnowTrails TV!

Season 3:

This season on SnowTrails TV we'll be trail riding in Ottawa at the Muskoka snomobile area two hours north of Toronto. We'll also explore local, family-style trails, ride Luc the groomer guy in Dubreuilville, do some off-trail, back country powder riding in Manitouwadge and ride along the Lake Superior coast in Marathon.

Also this season, we'll check out the World Snowmobile Expo and the Big Air competition in West Yellowstone, Montana and take you mountain riding in Gallatin. We'll take a three day tour through Tug Hill in Lewis County, New York featuring the Timberville Lodge and Adirondack State Park. We'll spend a couple of days in Gaylord, Michigan touring the Jordan River valley and see a sled towing demonstration. Togwotee Lodge in Wyoming is next for powder, altitude and mountain riding up to 10,300 feet. We'll also get to see a back-country helicopter rescue. Season three wraps up with us tackling some extreme, steep and deep mountain riding along the Utah, Idaho border with Beaver Creek Lodge's Summit 800's. Definitely not for beginners! So, grab your gear, tell your friends and join us for Season 3 of SnowTrails TV!

Season 4:

Season 4 of SnowTrails TV finds us in Quebec, Canada where we'll begin a six-day round trip beginning in Quebec City. Along the way we'll explore the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River and the Laurentian Mountains. We'll visit the Mont Ste. Anne Ski Resort and ride down to Duchesnay to visit the world famous Ice Hotel.

We'll also spend some fun time at the Quebec Winter Carnival. Our next destination is Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for the 38th, I-500 Snowmobile Endurance Race, the Grand daddy of them all! We'll join up with the Snowmobile.com Charity USA Benefit Ride from Houghton/Hancock to Copper Harbor and we'll also ride with Michigan's Wertz Warriors to benefit the Michigan Winter Special Olympics. Not only will we cruise the groomed trails along the Lake Superior coastline, we'll also do some serious, off-trail powder riding in the Keweenau Peninsula.

Next, we'll be spending some time in Ontario where we'll take a three day, saddlebag tour around Lake Nipising, also known as "The R.A.N. Tour. "Still in Ontario, we join up with the Gold Rush Tour; a four-day saddleback tour. We'll overnight at 3 Bears Camp and ride through Gogama, Timmins and some incredible, old mining towns. In Cochrane, Ontario we join the Snowmobileworld.com Canadian Charity Ride and experience some of Ontario's most extreme off-trail riding in Abitibi Canyon. Finally, we join snowmobile Media giants, SnowTrails TV, SnowTrax Television, SuperTrax Magazine, and SnowTech Magazine as they join up for the Snowmobile Getaway Prize Ride with all of the Getaway Prize winners for a superb spring ride on the last day of the season! Suit up! Tell your friends! And experience Season 4 of SnowTrails TV!

5th Season

The fifth season of SnowTrails TV finds us on backcountry trails in West Yellowstone, Montana in December, where we enjoy breathtaking views of the park from the summit of Two Top Mountain. A two-day guided tour of the West Yellowstone trails takes us through the steam geyser basins, highlighted by the winter splendor of Old Faithful. The second day of the tour features many wildlife sightings as we share the trails with Yellowstone's wild buffalo. Majestic, frozen waterfalls highlight our visit to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River and we also hear about the development of snowmobiling in the area from some of its founders.

In early January, we enjoyed a few days of pristine powder riding at 10,000 feet in Wyoming, which was a fantastic and safe, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

February starts with the 39th annual, I-500 Snowmobile Endurance Race in Sault St. Marie, Michigan and the 20th annual For Women Only Ride in Gaylord, a benefit ride for Easter Seals. Near Munising, Michigan, we participated in a very well attended, two-day, trail-grooming workshop, plus trail and off trail riding in and around Seny, MI.

Up next, is a 5 day tour in Quebec, just above New York state in the Abitibi Timiskiming region, starting with VIP access to the prestigious Grand Prix De Valcourt race. We also visit the Bombardie Snowmobile Museum and enjoy several day's riding on some of Quebec's most professionally organized and maintained trail systems courtesy of the FCMQ, where we enjoy Quebec's unique style of French hospitality.

March brings us north of Minnesota to snowmobile in Sunset Country Ontario, riding 640 miles in 4 days with a visit to the White Otter Castle, built single-handedly out of logs and finished in 1912. Guided by local experts from the OFSC clubs of the year, it was truly a ride on the wild side, including many wilderness experiences on the saddlebag tour.

SnowTrails TV finishes up the new season visiting Polar Bears in Cochrane, Ontario and riding the northern corridor to Hearst, Ontario in the James Bay Frontier.

As you can see, there's a great fifth year coming up on SnowTrails TV, airing in Fall 2007, so suit up and join us on the trails!

Viewer Feedback
Larry Stewart:
My five-year-old son and I watch SnowTrails TV faithfully every Sunday morning. This is a great show that promotes responsible snowmobiling. I've been riding for 20 years and I live near Syracuse, New York which is 45 minutes from Tug Hill, a great place to ride. Keep up the good work!!

Gary and Wendy Schumache:
We stumbled upon your show last night on Channel 36 in the Milwaukee area. Great show with a positive spin on snowmobiling...puzzled that a liberal-run PBS station would carry it. The commentary at the end of the show about sledders being environmentally aware was outstanding!!! 2 thumbs up!

Jason Burri:
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your program. I have been watching for a couple of years and have turned a few friends on to the show. We ride in Michigan, around the Cadillac/Lake City area, mostly and I'm looking forward to spending some time on the trails with my family when winter shows up. Anyway, keep up the great work and I'll see you Tuesday night on PBS.

Chuck Cignetti:
I'm from Ohio and I really enjoy watching your show every Saturday morning. See you on the trails and keep up the good work.

Jack from Milford Michigan - Zen Fan
Jack from Milford Michigan

Zens fan in Novi MI..
I had the honour of meeting Jack, on Saturday afternoon at the Novi Michigan snowmobile show. Jack has been snowmobiling for 146 years, and has loved every minute of it.

When he explained that he has followed our web site since the very beginning, I really felt special. Hard to believe a guy could read my crap for nine years without throwing up. I recorded our conversation for Zen Talk - so be sure to listen to the show sometime soon. Thanks Jack for your support. Your loyalty to this site is appreciated dude! XOXOX zw

When it comes to snowmobile destinations, we pride ourselves in being in the know. It's the one place that we shine. Have an inquiry about a certain sled joint? Get hold of us. Need a rental sled? We can help you find one.

Thanks to all our snowmobile sponsoring businesses, we help you stay in the loop. We hops to talk to you soon, or see you on the trails this winter in Quebec! zw

Internet Inovators Spread Sled Info; Quebec Snowmobilers Use Internet 4 Good

Montreal QC - - October 22, 2008: That's me on the left - In the centre is Marc Thibeault from www.motoneiges.ca , and on the right is Bob Petit, Quebec author, broadcaster, and snowmobile pioneer in Quebec. In English check out www.sledmagazine.com

All three of us are using the Internet to promote truth, safety, sobriety, and sanity on Quebec Trails. We also write about the new technology, trail conditions, destinations, and more. We have all but abandoned the printed page, owned by the man, for the freedom and power of the Internet.

Visit Bob's website here.. http://www.bobpetit.ca/ Bob uses hundreds of photos and videos to chronicle the history of ATV and snowmobile activity in Quebec, and much much more. Bob has a unique perspective, because he was organizing snowmobilers back when it all began in the 1960's, and he has been recognized by everyone, and every level of government and ngo's for over 40 yrs of volunteerism. He has won every snowmobile tourism honour and award there is, and a few that were created just for him. He still writes weekly articles for local newspapers and appears on snowmobile tv shows regularly. He is Mr Snowmobile in Quebec, and deserves our recognition and our respect. He has built a small museum on his property, that documents the truth of Quebec's snowmobile development history. Get ahold of me, and I can set you up a personal tour. He is in St-Jean-de-Matha.

http://www.zenwaiter.com/ has been "on the air" (Internet air that is) for nine years. I found it exhilarating to have the power to spread good helpful information to the snowmobile community, and I found it cool to be part of the snowmobile family. When I go to a show, I get hugs and appreciation from my readers. I feel I have helped many people to create family memories with their favorite sport, by helping them to organize holidays and avoid some pitfalls. This winter I am still pushing ahead with three Radio Podcasts a week, where I interview everyone and anyone about sledding. I am also experimenting with my web cast on Blog TV. This is where I broadcast live and record at the same time, then store the video on http://www.blogtv.com/ Search for Zenwaiter. I also have a regional photo album, a YOUTUBE station with over a hundred video clips, a discussion board and way more, too much to mention.

Marc in the centre, heads up a popular French language snowmobile magazine that is growing online. There was a huge buzz around his booth at the Quebec City Sled Show. He told me in an interview on Zen Talk, that he hopes to provide snowmobile trail conditions, provide an events calendar, and has a special long trial period evaluation program, where five of his gang get a free sled to drive around all winter. I guess they write detailed reports for the readers on their impressions of the machines. (I wish I had thought of that idea - I still have to pay for my own sled after nine years! hahah). Good for you Marc! I hope your web site will live long and prosper. You sure have people excited about it, that's for sure. Most of the articles I found on his site are press releases from the manufacturers, which is handy. If I have time this winter, I'll send you a few of my own to re-print on your English side. http://www.sledmagazine.com/

belle des neiges, a woman snowmobile activists- Beeeaaautifu!
This beautiful young woman, known among sledheads as Belle des Neiges, is a well known Internet blogger and a snowmobile activist. She goes beyond the screen work on her web site, to the real world. Her organization strives to represent the rights and will of the real snowmobiler, by organizing and mobilizing large groups of snowmobilers when necessary.

This woman rides over 7,000 kilometers per year on some of Quebecs best trails, somewhere midway between Quebec City and Lac St Jean, the inland sea. She is no Internet pretender - she's the real article. A special ed school teacher by day, and a sledder every weekend. Visit her web site for more http://www.admdq.org/

This will be winter number nine for me online, talking about sledding. Did I make any money yet? Nope. I got a free jacket from a snowmobile apparel sponsor, and I get complimentary rooms now and again, but I feel I have earned all of that. I have paid my dues. I think this Podcast Radio thing on I-Tunes that I have going, just may one day pay off! Imagine if I-Tunes one day, allows me to charge one buck for every download of my show. Then I could pay my rent!

Thanks everyone for reading this story. I hope to hear from you this winter. Come be a guest on my Zen Talk snowmobile radio show. Send me photos of your trip for my albums. Make comments on my disscussion boards about the trail conditions. Send in a cash donation if you win the state lottery! hahaha. (no really) or become a sponsor through your business.

Stay safe out there, and feel free to email me if you have any qns about sledding in Quebec this winter. I'm connected! I'd love to help out if I can.

zen@zenwaiter.com

Cheers!
